Week 4: Aesthetics, Design, and Branding part 2

Pure Formulas

I love this company for so many reasons. They have great supplements at good prices, they offer free shipping that is lightening fast, and they have tons of useful and interesting content on their blog and website.

This is not a sleek, clean, simple website, for sure. There is a lot going on: recipes, product pages, blog posts, etc all competing for my attention. But, I don't feel anxious or confused because it doesn't feel cluttered unorganized. It feels fun and interesting, and I always want to hang out and explore all the intersting content.

I think the reason this website works is their use of the principles of good design. The concept is well defined. I know exactly what they are selling and what they are all about from their homepage. Further, there is a good hierarchy and use of contrast. It is easy to see the different ways to shop- by brand, type of product, or alphabetically- and the headings are strong and bold.

I do most of my shopping online, especially shoes, clothes, make-up, and skin care. Nordstrom is one of my favorite places to online shop. They have a great return policy, fast and free shipping, and a huge selection.

What I love most about the website and what keeps me coming back is the ease of navigation and the product reviews. The website is uncluttered, with a simple black and white theme and enticing product pictures. The drop-down menus at the top of the home page make it easy to quickly find what I need. I rely heavily on customer reviews and often spend quite a bit of time reading them before making a purchase.

I also love the  sale section of the website, where I do most of my shopping. Once on the sale page I can select my favorite brands and my size and see what is on sale. Much better than going to the store and riffling through rack after rack, tryng to find my size!
