Week 2: Overview of Social Media

Which social media platforms seem geared towards personal use? Why do you think so? The social media platforms geared toward personal use seem to be the ones that are based on user pics and videos such as instagram, snapchat, and and tumblr, for example. I think this is the case because those types of platforms are quick, easy and instantaneous, which lends itself to the sharing of ones personal life without putting a lot of time or thought into it.  Which ones seem to work better for business? Week 3A: Business and Communication

Probably the most frustrating communication difficulty I've had with businesses is either not being able to speak with someone who can help me or having my requests for help ignored. For example, I ordered an item online from a store I had never ordered from because the item was on sale. The item never came and the customer service number always went straight to voicemail and my numerous emails went unanswered. By the time the item finally shipped three months later, I had already purchased the item somewhere else and I had moved and it went to the wrong address. I think social media definitely makes is easier to get noticed as a customer and get problems solved. If the company I mentioned above had a social media platform where I could post my ever-increasing frustration, I think someone from the company would have noticed and reached out to me. Week 16: First Post

As someone who does does not use social media in their personal life, this class was incredibly challenging. Just setting up the various accounts was a struggle. Fortunately, I was able to figure out enough to be able to try out the major platforms. I'm still not comfortable using them but I'm hoping that will come with time and practice. I enjoyed blogging the most. It is the one platform I feel suites my personality and will integrate best with my online nutrition practice. It will provide me the opportunity to present timely and helpful material to my audience.It works well for a variety of topics from research articles to recipes to product reviews. In addition to blogging, I plan to use email newsletter marketing. It will be a good way for me to keep in touch with my followers.
